The Republican Dilemma: Nothing Good to Complain About Now that Obamacare is gaining some real traction and starting to succeed in getting many more people covered by health insurance, Republicans have recognized that and have gone back to talking about Benghazi for want of anything better to complain about. But there is a big problem for them. They bet the farm that Obamacare would fail and that is how they geared up for the midterm elections. It is a problem. The failed bet has consequences already coming to the fore. Obamas job approval rating has surged to 49% and Democrats have gained 4% on the generic congressional ballot. The situation is likely to simply get worse for Republicans unless something new comes along for Obama to bungle. But for now, Republicans are in a real pickle. Most of Obamas other failures, Republicans are a party to as well -- no effort for unemployment, no effort for the economy, spying on the American people, compromising our civil liberties, etc. They need a new issue and fast.
