The School Board on Dec. 18 approved a list of legislative priorities for the upcoming legislative session. The priorities are listed in four broad categories: Funding, Local Control, Accountability, and Students Transfers. The list was developed in collaboration with other Cass County school districts, operating under the name Cass County Kids First. The local School Boards are banding together in a collective effort to support public education in Cass County. On Dec. 18, Ray-Pec became the sixth School Board in the county to approve the list of priorities. Other districts that have approved the list include: Adrian, Belton, Harrisonville, Pleasant Hill, and Sherwood. The Board recognized students who were named to All-State teams for fall sports. The Board also declared a list of items as surplus and approved bids on a number of surplus items. In addition, the Board heard a report about School Culture and Climate. The report included a review of characteristics of a positive school culture, and District efforts on bullying-prevention and suicide prevention.
