The Scottish Secretary told Portsmouth News recently that the work would leave the Clyde in the event of independence given the fact that the UK does not build complex warships overseas. He is correct as should Scotland vote yes then any contracts for warships cannot be placed preferentially in Scotland, instead all government contracts outside the ones using Article 346, (the main clause used when a government deems contracts too sensitive to put out to open tender) must be put out to competitive bidding.
