The Side to Side Stationary Swing A very basic Dynamic Hanging - TopicsExpress

The Side to Side Stationary Swing A very basic Dynamic Hanging movement. Should be taught BEFORE the Front Stationary Swing (as opposed to what is usually done in beginner Crossfit classes) as it does not send your shoulders into full extension and is safer and friendlier, sometimes, even for someone with less than optimal shoulder/t-spine biomechanics. The move have many benefits, starting to condition the elastic (and contractile) components of the hanging chain, preparing you for more advance Brachiation and play and more. It is a great intermediary step to help come out of shoulder injuries as well but should not be implemented before shoulder stability/strength regained, range of motion recovered and then enough passive and active hanging work has been done before. I love the lateral swing. When I do it at the park the kids always join me - they know a good thing when they see one!
