The South African Sailing Northern Region Inter schools championships were held at Victoria Lake Club in Germiston over the weekend of the 15th & 16th of March. 22 entries from 9 High Schools and 27 entries from 13 primary schools made of a mammoth inter schools battle. Difficult light conditions on the first day, with only one race completed put the organisers under pressure to get the required minimum of 4 races on the following day. But Sunday started with light conditions building to a steady breeze. The Competition ended with 5 races to count towards the final results. The High School division results were as follows 1st Linden Hoerskool :-Team members Jaco Bester, Zak Bester and Clara Holm, 2nd Redhill High School:- Team Members- Iliana Boura, Emma Clark, Kirsten Clark 3rd Benoni High Schol:- Team Members-Miguel Abelho & Nathi Dass, Andrew Donachie & Luke Blackwell, Joshua Denmin & Ruderu Naiker. The Primary School results were as follows: 1st Dutch School “Het Oranje Park” Team members: Sophie Holtus, Jasmijn Holtus, Neo Khambule 2nd Central Gauteng Homeschool: Team members: Anika Baines Alexia Baines, Ethan Creamer. 3rd St Peters Prep: Team members: Ella Thorburn, Douglas Brown, Nicholas Thorburn. High School Individual results Overall were as follows 1st Overall Iliana Boura -Redhill 2nd Overall Emma Clark –Redhill 3rd Overall Zak Bester – Linden Hoerskool Primary School Overall results 1st overall Duncan Hawksworth- Pridwin 2nd overall Sophie Holtus – Dutch School ‘Het oranje Park” 3rd overall Natasha Brown – St Dominics Congratulations to all the medal winners and thank you to Ekurhuleni Dept of sport and Rec for their continued support of Water Sports.
