The Storm Prediction Center issued its latest severe weather - TopicsExpress

The Storm Prediction Center issued its latest severe weather outlook a little earlier than expected. The most significant change is that the SPC pushed the Slight Risk boundary about 40 miles farther east from an Asheboro/Charlotte line to a Wadesboro/Great Falls SC line, potentially confirming some of my thinking about 30 minutes ago. There is still a marginal 2% tornado and 5% damaging wind threat in place for the same areas (southern McDowell, southern and eastern Burke and southeastern Caldwell counties). However, I dont see us getting much rain locally for at least a few more hours. In fact, farther to our west, some clearing is occurring and temperatures over the I-81 corridor of Tennessee have risen into the 50s. We could see some 50s here this afternoon and the sky may brighten from time to time. I cant rule out a passing shower or thunderstorm especially as the cold front approaches later this evening but the heaviest rains have stayed to our south for the past hour or two and continue to move eastward.--Steve.
