The Tea Party was instrumental in the Republican thrashing of the Democrats in 2010, and it seems they are primed to be instrumental in the Republican thrashing of the Democrats in 2014. It seems the liberal progressives have a new enemy in these would-be "Tea Party conservatives". By my observation, the Tea Party rejects the interventionism of the neoconservatives but simultaneously rejects the secularism of the libertarians. Initially I thought Tea Partiers were just social conservatives or mainstream conservatives who are fed up with the general direction of the country, but it seems I was wrong. The Tea Party seems to be rapidly evolving into something much deeper than either the neocons and the libertarians, whose intra-party rivalry has left a bad taste in the mouths of Tea Partiers. Is it fair to assume the Tea Party is neither neocon nor libertarian, but significant of a whole new faction on the rise?
