The Truth Riddle For something to be real, there has to be an effect If there is a real self, then it has to cause something to happen In a Universe where changes already happen, this cannot be observed If the changes are all effects There must be something else which is real So what of free will? What separates my choosing from the choices happening While life occurs as the outcome of choices made by me All my apparent choices are effects So any kind of self making choices Is an effect of a cause And cannot be real So, are you awareness? Some teachers identify awareness as a container As a background against which all content shows up And while awareness and content dance together There is experience, perception and projection A story of reality unfolds but it is still not the cause All the time there is an effect It must be the effect of something else which is real Behind all that is seen, there has to be a cause A human quality which creates all that is to be believed One simple reality, one simple truth An undeniable perspective The context against which all of life shows up So what is the quality?
