The U15’s kicked off their season with a 5-0 win over a youthful Killough side at the Mill Field. Niall Doran netted two from free kicks while Niall Rock also grabbed a brace courtesy of some powerful shooting. However, Corey Doyle netted the goal of the game as he ran onto a super pass from Trae Crawford to chip the keeper. This was a solid rather than spectacular performance from the team with defenders Caolan Burns, Mark Curran, Niall McElroy and Darragh Corrigan all doing well. Robert Campbell worked like a Trojan in midfield and there were also good performances from Lauren Strain, Kiara Cairns, Chris Mulholland and keeper Jack Hanna who made a number of cracking saves. A good result for the team but lots to work on for next week. The U17’s were brought down to earth with a bump following last week’s 8-1 win over Ballynahinch Olympic. The team never really got started and were trailing 4-0 to Castlewellan before Conor Shields reduced the arrears with a late penalty. A very disappointing result but on the plus side the team now have a big squad of players to choose from. Many thanks to the Kairos Centre for the use of their bus to take the U15 team to Killough – it was very much appreciated by the Tollymore club
