The US Reprise promo poster for the first Pentangle record. Nice, - TopicsExpress

The US Reprise promo poster for the first Pentangle record. Nice, slight redesign of the cover elements with different weights and placement - as well as a review snipe from ROLLING STONE. Yes, its pretty much the album cover, but I couldnt help myself and grabbed it a few years ago regardless; probably for its historical contextualization. US Warner and Reprise, at this time (68 - 71), like Columbia and Epic, normally printed up lousy, generic b&w band/artist shots with only the name and label logo...very ugly things (and ubiquitous - people mustve thought them cool at the time and saved) on heavy card stock. This Pentangle is an exception - also AXIS: BOLD AS LOVE, ELECTRIC LADYLAND, EVERYBODY KNOWS THIS IS NOWHERE, LOVE IT TO DEATH, HIS BAND AND STREET CHOIR and nearly every Grateful Dead album had full-color (if applicable), album-dedicated shop materials. Around 72 this changed, and albums usually got some sort of dedicated poster. But no VILLAGE GREEN (would love to be proven wrong), no STAND UP or AQUALUNG, no TROUT MASK (incidentally the CLEAR SPOT and SPOTLIGHT KID posters, while cool, are simply too large for framing - each is, like 2 x 3), no HOT RATS, no ASTRAL WEEKS (just another roll-out of the heavy card stock materials).
