The Ukrainian Automaidan from the Cultural Center in Abington, PA - TopicsExpress

The Ukrainian Automaidan from the Cultural Center in Abington, PA to and through Center City and the Art Museum Circle and ion to the Ukrainain Philadelphia Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception was a huge success. I would estimate that well over 250 cars and 1,500 people participated. Two local news stations covered the event, but Channel Six Action News stayed with us the whole way and took extensive footage. Everyone gathered at the Cathedral for a Moleben Service to the Blessed Mother, during which Archbishop Metropolitan Stefan delivered an outstanding homily; a special Ektenia litany of petitions for Ukraine, its people and its fallen heroes was made part of the service. Afterwards, the people and clergy sang a Prayer for Ukraine and Ukraines National Anthem. the people also spontaneously sang Christmas carols. Outside the Cathedral, the people gathered for a Maidan tribute; the level of fraternity and camaraderie was palpable. People from all waves of immigration and of all ages were one community, one family. The Georgian, Polish, Byelorusyn and Polish communities of Philadelphia also participated.
