The United States prepares to assume the chairmanship of the Arctic Council in 2015. Admiral Robert J. Papp became the State Department’s Special Representative for the Arctic in July of 2014, and will lead the effort to advance U.S. interests in the Arctic Region, with a focus on Arctic Ocean governance, climate change, economic, environmental, and security issues in the Arctic region. Admiral Papp gave a speech at the opening session of the #ArcticCircle2014 and in this short clip he discusses the main theme of the upcoming U.S. Arctic Chair chairmanship: One Arctic, with shared opportunities, challenges and responsibility.
