The Verdict: Got the call this afternoon, and sadly I will not be able to travel to Darjeeling this August. The political situation has gone from bad to worse and so the Foreign and Commonwealth office has advised against travelling to the specific areas. Everything is in lockdown (the school will be shut)and there are demonstrations and protests. In the past, there has been planned strikes which usually blows over after sometime however this particular situation occured literally overnight and has got worse. https://gov.uk/foreign-travel-advice/india The new plan is to purspone the trip to next year when it should have calmed down by then. I am gutted, but I am trying to be positive as it will create much more time to fundraise and plan events for the coming future, so watch this space!
