The Victim/Witness Support Unit is pleased to announce that on Monday November 10, 2014, at 10am, in the lobby of Toronto Police Service Headquarters, the Toronto Police Service will be announcing a new partnership with the Missing Children Society of Canada (Code Search), Blackberry and WestJet. This is a new Search program that uses advanced technology (A smart phone APP) to mobilize a community in the search for missing children. This APP engages and connects, in real time, law enforcement, individual Canadians and Corporate Canada as soon as a child goes missing or is abducted. Police decide to whom and what information is disseminated. Information is the same as that sent to mass media and therefore no privacy issues. It can be sent out to a user base of millions or targeted to a single community through smartphones. This is currently in use with Calgary Police.
