The Victorian Chief Health Officer, Dr Rosemary Lester, is currently on ABC24 confirming that the Melbourne area in particularly remains at the threshold for a Heat Health Warning. Seven of the nine districts meet these criteria and it will apply until Friday at least. We urge you to check on elderly neighbours and family members. Avoid physical exercise during the day. Paul Holman from Ambulance Victoria has reported eight children were locked in cars during the day yesterday and eleven the day before. Ambulances attended to numerous people collapsed and/or in cardiac arrest playing lawn bowls or golf, and out running. Maintain your fluid levels and stay in cool preferably air conditioned areas. Saving money by not running cooling systems and using water would be pointless if someone does not survive.
