The Wall Street Journal had a good article about Small Cinemas and the struggle to switch to Digital Projection. In the story of course there are some who close but many who either using Kickstarter, Grants or other funding have just made the switch. Seems like this is a metaphor for all business - you either adapt or slowly die. If a 100 year old business like Crown Candy Kitchen embraces twitter - that might give you a clue as to why they have survived 100 years. Cranes Country Store would be another example - Internet sales could have hurt them - instead they embraced and sales expanded.
