The Windigo is a ghost of winter who possesses people to do the unthinkable. When he possesses the body of an innocent they crave human flesh. The only was to get rid of the spirit is to destroy the body the Windigo inhabits by fire. It can move faster than the human eye can see and kill with a single glare. The Windigo was thought to be a legend but there are many reported incidents of it possessing people. In the 1700s , explorer David Thompson witnessed such an encounter with the Windigo. A young Indian hunter had been taken over by the creature and was fighting the urge to eat his sister. Tribal council decided to strangle him and burn his body until there was absolutely nothing left. This prevented the spirit for entering another person in this world. In North Eastern Alberta Canada in 1746 the Windigo made another appearance. Settlers were staking claims on land in the wilderness territories and participated in weird ceremonies. There were rumors of the weird rituals at the fort but nobody believed them until a dead farmer was discovered . He had been killed and half eaten by something. Some said it was a bear but others knew the truth. They went in search of the creature and were never seen again. The settlers demanded that the group performing the rituals leave the area but they refused. The settlers blocked off the fort entrance so that they couldnt get out over the winter. When they went inside they found the unthinkable. All of the men were dead and their bodies had been ripped limb from limb. There were signs of cannibalism on most of the bodies. The fort later became the home of doctor Thomas Burton and his family . When they moved in all were well. The passing of winter produced an entirely different man. When he emerged from the fort in the spring he was gaunt, pale and withdrawn. He now demanded to be called William Blake. The same man who had been involved in the cannibalism at the fort 100 years earlier. In 1921, the possessed Thomas Burton broke into every house in the town and slaughtered the occupants of the homes. He ate parts of all but 11 of his victims. Some say that he was possessed by the Windigo others say he was just crazy. He was executed for his crimes but his body wasnt burned. Did the spirit of the Windigo find another host????~Ghostwriter~
