The backstory of Ben Hur is more interesting than the script. The Bible, producers, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey, just signed to produce a remake of the classic film. Ben Hur tells the story of a Jewish prince who endures years of slavery after being falsely accused of a crime. Eventually he must choose revenge or forgiveness. Lew Wallace, the author of the best-selling 1880 book, was a true renaissance man skilled in many trades, even serving as a Major General in the Union Army.
