The beginning of atonement is the sense of its necessity. Yom - TopicsExpress

The beginning of atonement is the sense of its necessity. Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is the Holy of Holies. It is a day of fasting and prayer, introspection and self-judgment when, collectively and repeatedly, we confess our sins and pray. If you reflect often on how His Atonement has changed you, and if you give thanks often, you will find that your witness of Him gains power to touch the hearts of others. When those you invite out of your own testimony feel that witness, they will come to accept Him.
