The bible does not tell us her name but this woman stood at the threshold of a historic event. The devided Israel was to be reunited in the true worship of YHWH. We only know her as the Samaritan woman, she has been previously been married to 5 men and she is presently staying with the 6th man and she is still not content in this particular marriage. She was in pursuit of something that all the 6 husbands she has been with could not offer her. Samaria was known for mixed worship, and that means for every husband she married, she also worship a deity or idol that husband worshipped. The fact that she actually married this men means that she was intimately involved in the worship of this gods. She was one passionate woman! Everything she did, she did it with great passion. I am interested in this last marriage she is in, the sixth husband. I think this is the point were she realises that whatever she yearns for in all this husbands/gods she could not find. The hungered and thirsts for something she is willing to go all out to find. There were other wells in Samaria and they were relatively more accessible and nearer to the city. The well of Jacob though its rich history, was no longer seen as relevant and important by the Samaritans. But after her persuit and havin worshipped 5 entities and the one she presently worshipped did not give her what she looked for, she took a journey to the well of Jacob, this without knowing would be the end of her persuit. She leaves family and friends behind and all by herself sets on a journey to the well despised by many, she wanted to drink of this well, she was told that in the past, this well yielded living waters, she wanted to drink and never to thirst again. As she approached the well, she saw a man sitted on the well, a man that persued her heart and told her that, if she could ask, he would give her life giving waters that would spring up to everlasting life. I dont care what her name was, but this nameless woman went to the well looking for water and at the well she found a man. The man Christ Jesus, he alone can satiesfy the yearning and longing of the soul of man. A church that pursues intimacy with him will eventually be persued by Christ Jesus, he is calling her and he is saying to her, you have been married to that which could not satiesfy, come now and i will give you that which will satiesfy you and you will not thirst again. Christ the perfect husband it calling, would you marry me, would you marry me? Baruch Hashem - Praise G-d
