The capture of abu Khattala, the alleged mastermind of the Benghazi murders was long overdue, but right on time for our embattled president. The Commander-in-Chief needed some good news, because however we spin it, our side was utterly blindsided by the al Qaeda invasion of Iraq. The harsh fact of the matter is that Mr. Obamas team, including our gigantic embassy staff in Baghdad, missed the mobilization of the extremist ISIS army in the North: and they severely misjudged the fighting spirit and capability of the Iraqi army we trained and lavishly equipped. Now we can either embrace the Shiite governments of Syria and Iran or allow the Sunni extremists to establish a base of operations that will make what Bin Laden had in Afghanistan seem small potatoes. If we allow this to stand, this invasion of Iraq makes everything our GIs fought and died for a lost cause, another Vietnam, where the enemy stands victorious on the field of battle. Unleash the drones. It is not a solution, but it is a statement that we will not allow al Qaeda to beat us.
