The concept is pretty simple: Farm Animal Rights staff and volunteers set up video monitors at college campuses and community festivals during their 10 Billion Lives Tours, and pay passersby $1 each to watch a four-minute video about factory farming. After participants watch the video, theyre asked to take a pledge to eat fewer animals. During their 2013 tour, the animal rights organization reached 36,000 viewers, and 80% of them pledged to eat fewer animals. Research shows that: 1) at least 30% (some studies indicate that the percentage is higher) of people who become ethical vegetarians do so because of media exposure 2) young people are more likely to ditch meat for ethical reasons, and more likely to be life-long vegetarians 3) people who verbally commit to doing something are more likely to follow through with it Great advocacy, folks!
