The controversies over the pagan holidays of christmas and easter highlight the reluctance of so many to abandon the teachings of man and the opinions of friends and family to just focus on Gods word and Him being enough all by Himself. So many are actually pursuing the approval of man in following the traditions of the man-made churches. Simply attaching the name of Jesus Christ to an event does not make it holy. If the Lord knows your heart then He will also know why you did not check out and test every doctrine and tradition of man by His word. 1 John 4:1-4 Testing the Spirits Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; this is the spirit of the antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world. You are from God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world.
