The course of Truth. Today is de commemoration of de beheading of St John the Baptlst. De story that reveals not only de human wickedness but also de suffering of de just man. It is a story that reveals de tension that exist between immorality n righteousness. John died for de course of de truth. He had condemned Herod Antipas, Tetrach for usurping de wife of his brother, Philip. That was when he incurred de hatred of Herodias, the woman usurped by Herod. She looked for an opportunity to destroy de truth. Anybody that stands for de truth is a target for attack of de devil. Evil men n women dont like to hear de truth n anyone who dares to uphold it suffers it. In offices where bribery is usual practice, people who stand out re blackmailed. John could not watch evil take place in de land. Ever since John voiced out his take on de crime of Herod n Herodias, he became a prisoner. There re so many people who re prisoners bcos of de truth they stand for. Some others re suffering bcos they would not cooperate with a corrupt practice. There came an opportunity for Herodias, when Herodias, when Herod celebrated his birthday under de atmosphere of sensual pleasure n drunkness. How a little girls display made Herod to promise, under an oath, to give out half of his kingdom tells u de power of drink. If Salome(the little girl that danced) was sensible enough, she would have understood that her opportunity to become a queen had come, n she would have grabbed it immediately; she would have asked to be given part of de kingdom. But she allowed de jealousy of her mother to destroy an opportunity that comes once in life. What did they do with Johns head? Nothing! Herodias life is a picture of vengance. She wanted to live as she wished. She wanted to sin without interference. She ignored Gods words. Since John had been de only threat to this, she plotted his death. She succeeded in killing John but she didnt succeed in covering de truth. For de rest of her life, she would never stop feeling guilty for her action. What is obvious from this story is that John died for de course of de truth n he died fulfilled for doing de will of God. What matters most in our lives is how much we do de will of God for our lives; how much we uphold de truth. Heaven is our ultimate goal. Attachment to this world should not make us to abstain from de truth.
