The current county executive would like to have the Sheriff department under him along with a department of public defense. Can you imagine a defendant in court knowing his attorney answers to the man and organization trying to convict him. Or how about a sheriff who is in the bad position of having to investigate or even arrest the county executive, his/her boss! Not good! Both departments must be independent of the executive office. I want to keep it that way!
