First the brilliant young philosopher Alex Tomer has a book of mine (The Madness of Youth) on his list of favourites, and now the equally brilliant essayist and critic Eugene Peters has put TWO of them (and maybe even three) on his. I am overwhelmed. I dont know what to say (yes I do, Im doing it now). Eugene Peters Most Influential Books? ( I also happen to like them - guess they wouldnt influence me if I didnt.) Here they come: 1. The Great Divorce, CS. Lewis. Whetted my appetite to read just about everything he has ever written. 2. Lord of the Rings, JRR. Tolkien. 3. Rosemarys Baby, Ira Levin. 4. This Perfect Day, Ira Levin. 5. The Bannonbridge Musicians, Raymond Fraser. With The Black Horse Tavern, it introduced me to a style of writing I like; smart, gritty, and humerous. 6. Brave New World, Aldous Huxley. 7. The Exorcist, William Peter Blatty. 8. Interview with a Vampire, Anne Rice. (I love ALL her works) 9. The Jesus Incident, Frank Herbert. 10. In Another Life, Raymond Fraser. 11.The Delicate Dependency, Michael Talbot. 12. The Little Prince, Antoine de Saint-Exupery.
