The current government has drafted a shocking, inhumane bill that is yet to pass through the senate and can still be stopped! The proposed bill completely undermines the democratic Australia we all know! Please take the time to look at this! Under the proposed Migration and Maritime Powers Legislation Amendment (Resolving the Asylum Legacy Caseload) Bill 2014 the minister of immigration will be granted powers Australia has never seen before- because powers of such degree are not seen in democratic countries but under dictatorships. Scott Morrison, will have the personal authority to decide individuals refugee status with no court as an independent umpire, no chance of appeal, not even a quality opportunity to plead a case. One person, having total power over another- this is not the country we live in! The most disturbing point however; that power, involves forcibly sending innocent people back to circumstances where, frankly, they can be tortured and killed.
