The cycle of oppression is very amazing to me. Instead of hurt people learning NOT to inflict pain, most inherit the behaviors of their oppressor/abuser. The historical fiction I read highlights the following 1) Former oppressed Holocaust victims discriminated against blacks once they escaped to America. 2) Post Civil war (1870 ish) former enslaved and oppressed black men, turned around and objected to the female being educated, voting, or working. Even inflicting the same beatings they once received. 3) White women while fighting for their voting and working rights, looked at minority women with disdain for wanting the same. 4) To bring it to the present 1/3 of abused and neglected children will grow up and abuse their own children.
