The destruction of the Jamaican environment continues, under the leadership of those who were trusted to lead, with honour! The same defiance for the sanctity of the environment bears witness that the orange party government, reportedly, gave one Mr Robert Cartade permission to construct Long Mountain Country Club - a gated enclave of high end residential properties, on National Water Commission watershed protected lands. And what of Karachi Heights, and Pines of Karachi housing developments? The Natural Resources Conservation Authority (NRCA) and the National Environment and Planning Agency (NEPA) are mandated to protect conservation lands. Instead of carrying out their mission honourably, it would appear that the NRCA and NEPA have ganged up and held down the virgin so that the HAJ can have its way, back and front. Its an all-too-familiar scenario. - jamaica-gleaner/gleaner/20130602/cleisure/cleisure3.html The defiling and plunder of virgin Jamaican territories is not now being conducted by colonial masters ... but, by the very Jamaican leaderships whose ancient forerunners experienced the most challenging aspects of the Islands colonial past. What lessons have we learned from history/herstory ... and will we, the collective consciousness of the nations, begin to place our strongest focus and energies on healing this land and its people?
