The events in Ferguson are bigger than #MikeBrown and if someone doesnt step up to the plate soon and demonstrate real leadership, it could soon spread throughout the entire St. Louis metropolitan area. Michael Brown symbolizes years... decades of neglected frustrations, the direct result of making a certain segment of the community feel they dont matter. This is what you get when you gut the school system and lose accreditation, when you criminalize walking down the street or simply standing on the corner... when you claim to never have funding for economic development/jobs but always have money for stadiums, when bs tickets and warrants are your main source of revenue... when you allow areas to become blighted... when lack of opportunity makes everyday a struggle.... When you arrogantly think a certain segment of the population cant fight back. Their fight is economic... There will be no business as usual. Looters are hitting them in their pockets. If they were the animals theyre made out to be, we would literally be in a warzone, police would be dodging bullets. St. Louis is one of the most dangerous cities in the nation. Theyre not shooting, theyre going after corporate interests that fund these municipalities. Im not advocating anything... Im telling you whats happening on the frontlines, not the story local media is trying to feed you. Theyre not out there... most of the footage you see is from Mary Moore, cellphones or national media. @stlhiphop has a ton footage we are working to get out. I was there at the exact moment everything changed.... and been on the frontlines every since. Radio... Hot has not done one live remote broadcast from the frontlines... not even last night at the rally the family had with Al Sharpton... but they support the family right? Hot missed ANOTHER HUGE OPPORTUNITY to connect with young people and give them a voice. They can pump bs in our community all day, but cant take to the streets and give people a voice during this time of crisis? This is why we need our own. This is why I do what I do. Do not get distracted by the media... the police fired the first shot, shooting an unarmed black youth 9-10 times, killing him and leaving his body on public display. The rioting did not start until the police provoked it by showing up in riot gear. I WAS THERE. Classic How to ruin a movement 101... they did it with the Occupy movement, they do it all the time, because it works. This time it backfired. People say it starts in the home... Well thats goes for civic, community and political leaders as well, it starts at home for you too, in city hall, in your board of aldermen, in your offices and in your precincts. The people have spoken. Can you hear them now?
