The expression usually goes All hat, no cattle. But even with a name like Stetson, in this case its more like No hat, all dog! This approximately two-year-old Golden Retriever mix arrived at the Mercer County Animal Shelter in West Virginia on February 26th as a stray. Even though he was described as very well behaved and a great dog, he had no adopter or rescue interest. And he didnt have much time. The shelters policy is that after 10 days, the animal is subject to being euthanized. On March 8th, RADAR provided an offer to assist with Stetsons vetting as an incentive for a rescue to him. Two days later, Susan Davis and her Sophies Safe Haven Rescue in Maryland agreed to take Stetson! He received his initial vetting and was neutered on April 15th. Susan had this to tell us about Stetson: He is very friendly and loves everyone he meets. He is great with kids and other dogs. He is very polite and knows the commands for sit, stay, and shake. Stetson is very well behaved and loves attention! He will make a wonderful addition to any family. He truly is one of the best dogs I have ever been around. I dont know how he wound up at the top of the shelters kill list! Please donate to Stetsons Fund - $0 raised of $172 goal: raisingaidfordogsatrisk.org/stetson #radardogs #rescuedogs #funditforward Fund It Forward!
