The first Tasman Secondary School Sports awards have reached nearly 50,000 people from Nelson and across New Zealand. At the ceremony, held at Nelsons Theatre Royal, 200 college athletes and guests witnessed the awards presentation but social media took it to another level. Hermsen said she could hardly believe the response to the event, both online and in the flesh. I was pretty overwhelmed to be honest, Hermsen said. I didnt think it would be this insane, I was blown away to see the number of votes but it is good to see this support for our athletes. Hopefully [the awards] will keep going past this year.
