The first poem I wrote for you Is a poem about a pair of shoes/sandals When my heart is missing you, I can write poetry about the most mundane everyday object Two shoes met each other from who knows when They are never further than one step apart from each other They are with each other on all roads, big and small, crowded and quaint They are together on velvety carpet and on dusty roads Always together, worn out together step by step, neither [sole] is ever higher than the other Always sharing, even as the shoe wearer pushes them down They rather share the good and the bad, never leaving one another for someone else The life of one is dependent on the other If one day a shoe goes missing, Everything is now at risk Even though they look alike, the shoe wearer knows The two shoes are not a couple Just like the two of us when we are not together My shoe step is always in your direction Even though there is someone else next to me My heart is still unsettled Those two shoes were always together But they never make promises to each other, never lie to each other They never speak of the future, never betray each other Every walking step, they were together The two shoes cannot be without each other in this walk of life Even though one is to the left, one to the right But I love you for the opposite reasons Our lives come together so we can share one path Two lives silently walk together in this life Only stopping when the other is no more When there is only one, there is nothing left If one cannot find the other
