The heart-wrenching incident that claim the life of twenty-one job seeking men and women and leaving many injured is a call for immediate action to diversify our economy in order to create jobs. I have been in the vanguard of going back to agriculture as the only solution to our deplorable economy, and ease dependent on the oil. It is well known that agriculture is the bedrock of every countrys economy due to the fact that it does not only provides food to the population but also raw materials to industries which leads to the birth of local industries and expansion of already existing ones, culminating to a surge in standard of living and creation of jobs, not forgetting the jobs inherent in itself. To this end, there is need to resuscitate our agricultural sector not only to create jobs but to thwart more catastrophe which might recur if we remain passive. The onus lies on both the government and the citizens and i will grant you, that the former has higher role to play. We are so immersed in our criticism of the government that we are incognizance of our contribution to this malaise. In my candour, most of us detest the agricultural occupations because of its unpleasant and grimy nature and its demand of patient which we are destitute of and so lapse into diminishing the farming work and the farmers. In our effort to conceal our presumptuous, we gripe about its uncertainty and the gap between the efforts and returns rather preferred to clad in mud if it returns were mammoth and quick, as in our nature for swift success. I ardently believe that if we can take a hard long look---recognizing the importance which is worthy of ignoring its unpleasanance, we will reap billions and better our economy for generations. The challenge posed to the illiterates who are the major culprit, is to accept the axiom that it is the only remedy to our economic predicament and support the farmers, enlightening the general public. Better still pick up the hoe and machette.
