The high infant mortality rate is not an issue of Thar only as has been reported recently; it is the problem that exists in even the most developed cities of the country. Public sector hospitals and healthcare facilities in developed districts even are not providing ideal neonatal care as has always been claimed by the government authorities. However, it seems well only because no concrete statistics are available or are managed on neonatal and infant mortality across the country.
