The image is about Obama. But this post is more about the news - TopicsExpress

The image is about Obama. But this post is more about the news media. The populist news media ducks and runs from Obama failures, whether in polling, action (or lack of action) or his habit of offering gloating, arrogant, posturing, empty political rhetoric in front of adoring citizens who didnt have anything better to do than stand in a crowd in the middle of the day (or were bussed in and paid for the time thanks to being in a labor union, perhaps). That Obamas popularity has plummeted, and he sits at a rather awful, un-anointed 37% isnt something they wish to report, and they certainly wont do it with enthusiasm of any kind, but regret. Who wants to celebrate the first black president being a failure? It seems a bit... mean-spirited, right? Sure it does. What if he werent black, or a liberal, or a Democrat, or didnt smile a lot, or wasnt kinda dapper in public? What if he werent even Barack Obama, but, in some way, it was Obama? The same record, words, etc., but he looked different, had a history that was (as unspectacular, propped up, and self-ingratiating but) different, but a political record that was the same? God forbid, what if he were a Republican, somehow? Not a limited govt one, mind you, still a liberal in every way. Would we be here, not hearing about his low poll numbers, if that were true? Uh, NO. Most journalists are far too afraid of being the one who would be referred to as that closet racist who called Obama, the first black president, a failure. Or something even less reasonable. I mean, have you HEARD or READ the speculations theyve made about Obamas political opposition? Just consider the work of Chris Matthews of MSNBC and NBC these days, who I used to consider as a civil, smart guy. (Apparently, hes never really been terribly well-rounded or even-handed about things, it just didnt become widely recognized until his leg had a tingling affair with video of Barack Obama in 2008.) The media, and so, the population, will give this political animal, this campaign professional, this frequent golfer, and amateur leader, a pass at every opportunity. Unless Obama is a bugger to the media again, as with the media email privacy invasions and blacklisting in 2013, he wont get the grief that other presidents got from the popular media. Its just how it is.
