The issue of religious persecution is a rather baffling one. Religious adherents are always quick to point out that individuals who oppress and take away the freedom of other people in the name of religion are bigots/extremists who have no understanding of the fundamental principles of the faith and are therefore false believers in the religious teaching. However, when the actions of so-called religious extremists is what we begin to live with daily; and either by silence or tacit approval by shooting down any attempts to criticize or condemn such actions, one definitely begins to question the commitment of the true faithfuls to uphold the true teachings they believe in. Silence in the face of religious persecution of others by ones religion is definitely approval. There is no explanation for that and it doesnt matter what religion is involved.
