The last few days Ive been reflecting on the past year and realized that this has been one of the best years our family has had and thought I should share it. I suppose this could be my Christmas letter. I stopped sending one out years ago to cut down on my stress levels. Thank you to those of you that still send out your cards and letters. We love receiving them! We started off our year with the excitement of knowing that we were going to have a baby boy in our lives very soon. We wondered what he was going to look like and prayed to God everyday that he comes into this world healthy. Well, our little man Jackson Brooks Schwindt arrived on May 13th. What a joy this little baby brought to our lives. I have to say that being in the birthing room and seeing my grandson being born, was the highlight of my life! Both Lou and I agree that the best part of being a grandparent has been watching our son Josh become the most incredible Dad Jackson could ever have. The support he gives Shayla is amazing and we could not be more proud of the man he has become. Josh and Shayla are both such calm parents and we are so proud of both of them. Jackson is 7months old, has two teeth and weighs 19 lbs. now. He is the happiest little guy, he makes us laugh and he is definitely the love of our lives. The next huge event in our family was that our daughter Erin graduated as a nurse in August and 2 months later passed her registration test and officially became an RN. We are all so proud of her. With a hiring freeze on at the major hospitals in Regina and Saskatoon she was desperate to find a position which landed her in Balcarres. Twelve hour shifts and travel time to and from makes for some very long days, The weather for travelling has not been the greatest since she started and we worry about her on the roads constantly. She is hoping in the new year to get on in the NICU in Regina as that is were she did her practicum and loved it. Lou continues to train for his running and bike races. In his race this past summer at Riding Mountain he shaved off about 5 mins. from the previous year. Everyone is very proud of him for all his accomplishments and his dedication to staying fit and being healthy. He is very passionate about his bikes and biking in general. I think he is up to owning 5 bikes, that I know of. I have been working downtown at Sasktel head office for 2 years now. Ive loved the job and have met a lot of wonderful people, however on January 5th I will be starting in a new position as a District Shipper Receiver. I am going back to my warehouse roots. I will miss the job and the people terribly but glad to be getting away from the downtown area. So for me, it will be a new start to a new year. Im hoping it will be a good move. Im excited but scared at the same time. To all my FB friends and family, I hope you all have a happy and safe Christmas!
