The main issue of why MOS being bad, and Snyder being upset that people cling to the Reeve version is down to this: Superman is left-wing hippy vegan Jesus to the most extreme degree. Supermans invulnerability is simply the thing that makes him above the fray. He doesnt need to submit and comply with the evil of the convenient status quo. Its not about smashing things, its about putting them back together. Its about standing before the tyranny of the system and its banal atrocities and saying no, I wont allow you to hurt people. People dont need to be afraid of you anymore. The System and the Evil of the Status Quo- is always and will forever be: Lex Luthor. In the golden age he was a tyrant industrialist warlord, in the silver and bronze age he was a scientist- in the modern age he was a tyrannical polymathic industrial warlord. The Carlyle Group, Bayer, Microsoft, Lockheed Martin all in one entity. The very evil we we ally ourself with out of comfort collaboration. Superman implies that a we are all guilty, because we are. Its easier just to have a Transformers battle. Thats what Goyer and Snyder did.
