The media does a great job at how poorly others perceive my country, Haiti. So therefore, I make it my responsibility to use my social media to display otherwise. Just like everyone else from any other Caribbean island, I say this proudly, I LOVE MY COUNTRY!! Yes, we have many things to work on but thats every where else in the world, even here in America! I strongly believe knowing your history and culture helps build a sense of pride no one can destroy. Not a day passes by that I dont take the time to educate myself and learn more about Haitis rich and fascinating history. We are resilient and full of courage, the earthquake in 2010 proved that. Our food, religion, music, fashion and so much more contributes to the Pearl of the Caribbean.... Today, I read about Claudinette Fouchard, Miss Haiti 1960. She was the first #Haitian to compete in Miss World. Ms. Fouchard was made a cover subject of the magazines Jet and Ebony in 1960. She was a beauty Queen with lost of brains!! Born in Paurt-au-Prince, she studied abroad in France and later Georgetown University in Washington D.C. Shes fluent in Creole, French, English, Spanish, German and Italian.
