The more I read about the Snowden case, the more libertarian I get. Greenwald and the ACLU make the argument that the US behavior in trying to prevent Snowden from traveling to a country willing to grant him asylum is a threat to human rights and is boosting tyranny around the world. Greenwald: "[US] behavior in the Snowden case is basically threatening the right for people around the world to seek and obtain asylum, a right that is centuries old and is guaranteed under the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and other conventions to which the U.S. is a signatory, because essentially what they’ve done is not just bully other states that have offered asylum to him or are considering doing so, but have demonstrated that they’re willing physically to block him from going to countries to seek asylum or obtain asylum, or even to use lawless or rogue behavior, like we just discussed with the effective downing of Evo Morales’ plane." salon/2013/07/13/qa_with_glenn_greenwald_americans_reaction_surprising_and_gratifying/ ACLU: "U.S. actions also create the risk of providing cover for other countries to crack down on whistleblowers and deny asylum to individuals who have exposed illegal activity or human rights violations." aclu.org/blog/human-rights-national-security/us-actions-snowden-case-threaten-right-seek-asylum
