The most effective tool against the spread of Ebola is knowledge of the disease, its symptoms and preventative measures. It is equally important to dispel myths about EBOLA. EBOLA is not a curse and prayers will not prevent Ebola from spreading into other African countries. We need to revisit some of our cultural practices such as indiscriminate hand shaking and unnecessary body contact particularly with people we are not familiar with. Mass public awareness is crucial in the fight against EBOLA. All stakeholders including media practitioners and all citizens have a role to play in sensitising the population.
