The multiple natural gas incidents that occurred in Delta Township today were the a result of overpressure in Consumer Energy’s gas pipeline system in the area of the General Motors Plant. The overpressure situation, which begin at approximately 11 am today, resulted in pressure relief devices operating at regulating stations on Creyts Road at Saginaw and Creyts Road at Lansing Road. Consumer’s Energy was able to make corrections within about an hour that reduced pressure and closed the relief device at the Creyts Road/Lansing Road station. However, the relief valve at Creyts Road and Saginaw continued to operate until approximately 2 pm.
