The next City Council meeting, Tuesday July 8th 2014 at 6 pm Town Hall 549 Main st, is jam packed. Link to agenda: cityofplacerville.org/civicax/filebank/blobdload.aspx?BlobID=8823 Some of the important issues are: ____________________________________________________ 7.2 Open public comment (about anything NOT on the agenda) ____________________________________________________ 8.5 Resolution of support for North State Water Alliance northstatewater.org/ (item on consent calendar) ____________________________________________________ 12.1 Proposed .5% sales tax increase, for November ballot. (While road funding is the Fed & States responsibility, we lean towards supporting only a specific tax, which would be spent on only specific projects & needs 66% to pass. The general tax option is a disaster! This only needs 50% to pass, can be spent on ANYTHING any future Council desires & will become a massive SLUSH FUND. Tell the Council that a general tax is absolutely unacceptable.) ____________________________________________________ 12.2 Report by City on impacts of no roundabouts. (Once again, the City attorney has missed the entire point of the no roundabout initiative. None shall be built without voter approval. If the City can show how awesome and beneficial a given roundabout will be to a specific intersection, then there should be no problem selling it to the voters.) _____________________________________________________ 12.6 Adopt the Peoples No Roundabout petition as an Ordinance, or put it to a public vote in November 22014. (THIS is it folks! Time to come out of the wood woodwork & ask that the measure be adopted directly, saving the taxpayers election costs. The measure will pass at 80% anyway, so just adopt it and save our money.) _____________________________________________________ 12.3 City to discuss killing the roundabout at Clay & Mn st, via adopting an Ordinance or putting it to a November 2014 vote. (This is slam dunk! What took them so long? Adopt option #1 & exhibit A, now! This would stop the Clay st roundabout immediately. Tell Council to NOT put it to a public vote & waste taxpayer money.) _____________________________________________________ 12.4 Encroachment permit extension for Hangmans Tree restoration. (This is a must approve item. The original roofing contractor failed, and six months were lost in legal battles trying to get him fired. Hes gone now, a new contractor is in place, and the metal roof is ordered, but cant get here for several weeks. All of the other scaffolding work is done, they are just waiting for the roof material to arrive. The scaffolding is an absolute necessity for the workers and the Publics safety. To deny this short extension could lead to failure of the project & the demolition of the buildings. Please show up and ask Council to grant the extension to finish the roof. The Taylors want the scaffolding down more than anyone, after-all its their money being spent month after month. This project is so close to being finished, to deny would be an absolute crime & a devastating impact to the tourism dollars. On the other hand, when the roof gets put on, the scaffolding comes down, then we can all revel in saving our local historical buildings & creating a massive new draw for tourists & all their local spending. ______________________________________________________ Please let the Council know YOUR wishes on the above items. Weve given our suggestions. Written submissions & email, hold the most weight. Verbal input can have an impact too.
