The next time I get approached out side my van by an Officer of the Law, I will have my license, like a company ID, hanging from a cord around my neck. Also I will repeat every command, when confirmed, I will move at a snails pace to comply or inform the officer why I cannot, while I have my hands up. This officer endangered a lot of lives, note back ground, with his actions. Not taking full control of this situation while remaining in the safety of his cruiser or behind its door, and giving the driver unclear instructions, combined. Creating a situational feeling of vulnerability, within this Officer, that clearly influenced his perception of the young mans actions. This officer should be put on administrative leave with pay, pending the outcome of an independent investigation and internal inquiry. Weather he remains employed or terminated, as a result of his actions, if he desires to stay in law enforcement. Department paid, expert instruction in techniques to establish safe control of, and give instruction to suspects, while maintaining a calm situational awareness, should be mandatory.
