The once in a life time bear I shot at yesterday was not recovered. Me Matt Whitt, Kelly and one of Matts best bear dogs looked all day today. We found blood for about three hundred yards and then no more. Many factors played into this one being the rain. Also I was hunting close to the bedding area which was very thick and steep, which did not help our search. But the main factor was me not putting a lethal hit on this bear. I hit him in the shoulder and on a bear of this size, that just isnt going to cut it. Needless to say I am sick right now, this will haunt me for awhile. It happens in archery but it doesnt make it any easier. If I had things to do again I wouldnt change a thing, I got the shot I wanted, the perfect shot, just tried to hug that shoulder to close and got into the bone. I plan on airing the whole thing on the show so people can learn from my stupid mistakes. I want to thank Matt Whitt for his help he has been a great friend. I also want to Kelly for her help and support as always. Going to get ready for Illinois, I leave Friday, hope to have all the mishaps behind me for this year.
