The outgone rector. The Ogun State Government has sacked the rector of the Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, MAPOLY, Abeokuta, Tokunbo Fowode. The government has also frozen the institution’s bank accounts. Mr. Fowode, who was serving his second term as rector, was on his disengagement leave when he was booted out by the government and immediately replaced by another lecturer at the school, Bandele Itiola. The institution, from which the state governor, Ibikunle Amosun, graduated, had been running without a governing council for close to three years. The Accountant-General of the State, A. S. Senfuye, issued a letter dated September 17 to the banks asking them to freeze the school’s account. The letter also stated that payments could be made into the account but no withdrawal was allowed except those cleared by the Accountant General. Reacting to his sack, the former rector, in a telephone interview, thanked the state government for allowing him to serve. Mr. Fowode, an architect, alluded to his tenure as the one that exponentially improved human capacity and physical infrastructure in the institution.
