The pining for what we dont have or are not is not specific to - TopicsExpress

The pining for what we dont have or are not is not specific to your body - its specific to our entire culture, if not our entire species. Go to music discussion forums and youll see baritones/altos who wish they were tenors/sopranos and tenors/sopranos who wish they were baritones/altos. Go to personality discussion forums and youll see logical and strategic people wishing they were more carefree and emotional, as well as highly empathetic people wishing they were more detached and cerebral. Its not just you. Its not just your body. We do this with just about everything. We can make profound changes in the different ways that we express ourselves to the world (appearance, attitude, etc) - but youre never going to become something else altogether. And we know this universal truth anyway - imitations are never as interesting as the originals anyway. Stand in your own power. Self improvement should be viewed from the perspective of maximizing your strengths and minimizing your weaknesses (as you see them - for your goals)... and not trying to become someone else. I can think Dwayne The Rock Johnson looks awesome (who needs a full head of hair anyway?), but the fact is to get up to 250 lbs of muscle... ID need to do a crap ton of steroids. And even then, Id probably think I look like a cartoon character realistically - that just wouldnt work on my frame. We can get inspiration from others (to a certain extent), but first and foremost, we need to work on accepting the fact that its our certain nature to want to be in someone elses shoes. When we understand this is just the silly way our brains work, we can shift the focus back on creating the appropriate reality for ourselves - not in someone elses image.
