The presidents heads on mt Rushmore definitely give the appearance of design. But imagine if academia established that ONLY scientific explanations of mt Rushmore were allowed to be taught in school. Kids would then be taught that we now know that the appearance of design on Mt. Rushmore is actually due to wind and erosion over an extremely long period of time, to believe “man did it” doesnt explain anything and is a science stopper. Though the probability of the naturalistic explanation is astronomically low, it would be established and proclaimed to be absolute scientific fact, the only rational and scientific explanation. It is obvious however to us that such an extreme position would be absurd b/c it is not unreasonable to propose intelligent human beings had part in carving the faces in the rock. Now consider with me, IF there is indeed a God who had part in creating our world, then suggesting God is the best explanation for the fine tuning of the universe; the complex information in the cell, the moral law within and mind and consciousness, is actually not an unreasonable explanation for their origin. One can say this isnt a scientific explanation, maybe that is the case, but if there is actually a God, it is true. Now even IF science could and does come up with natural explanations, merely because they exclude a designer doesnt make them true, anymore than proposing Mt Rushmore is the mere result of wind and erosion makes its true, b/c it prefers natural explanations over a designer.
