The real violence, the real vandalism. This is not a formal essay. This is not an article or any kind of text based on theoretical literature. This is a sheet of paper in which some observations will be done. My name is not important. My occupation, even less. I’m just one more misunderstood person that has not been listened to. -Hey girl! .... -Girl? Are you ok? ... - Although all the taxes I’ve got to pay, the extra hours I need to work, the extra work I need to complete, the lines I daily need to deal with, the prejudice I suffer for being poor and the disrespect from “superiors”, I’d say that I’m fine, thanks! - OMG, but you complain quite a lot, don’t you? - Shouldn’t I? Have you noticed that a huge percent of your salary you do not earn? Have you ever questioned where does the money go to? To WHOM? Have you ever thought about the huge difference between your interests and the “thing” ones? Are you used to looking for answers about anything that is said by the “thing”? Have you ever had the chance to say something, be listened to and see any modification around you? Your city? Your country? The f*** world? Have you ever asked yourself how did things change in the past? Who were the responsible for these changing and, most important, HOW could they achieve their goals? It seems to me that we’re living a beautiful moment to start thinking, questioning and looking for some answers, don’t you think? - Y-Yes.. I T-think so... - Did you watch the News yesterday? Did you read what the “thing” wrote about the protests? Could you see how dangerous the “thing” is? How against people it is? Isn’t it sad? - Yes, I watched it! These vandals people are nonsense. They are deteriorating public monuments. This is so ridiculous. So violent and unnecessary... This world is completely lost. - S-so you agree with the “thing”, is that right? - Sure I do! Don’t you? - Well, well, well... Let me first try to understand your points. Would you mind to tell me why do you think all those thousand people are so wrong in their supporting? - Actually I think that they complain too much. All this protests only because a raise of 20 cents? Moreover why is it necessary to act as terrorists? Breaking glasses, having a dig at the buses and walls? They’ll never reach their goal like this. What they need to do is a pacific protest to be taken seriously. - So you truly believe that only marching is the best solution to be heard and to see an effective change in terms of society and politics? - Y-yes... At this moment it is necessary to take a deep breath. I don’t want to convince anybody about anything. I want to be heard. I want to be understood. I want people to think in different perspective. I don’t know if I and my people are right. But I do know we’ve passed through a long process of reading information, thinking about them and building different forms of knowledge... - Look... I disagree quite a lot with you. But I’ll try to make you understand my reasons... First of all I don’t like when the “thing” says I and my people are violent or vandals, mainly because we’re not. Violence is such a thing that the people around the world have been suffering by those “superiors” since always. Violence is taking a PUBLIC transport and paying around 3 bucks for it. Violence is paying 3 bucks for a PUBLIC transport and have no place to sit on. Violence is being obligated to have extra hours and never see the real capital. Violence is living for a recompense. Violence is not having life. Violence is being hit by police officers because we are on the streets calling people’s attention to the lies politicians tell us/ to the abusive prices they think they can demand from us/ to every single detail we consider necessary to protest for. Vandals are them. All those who have the power to control our steps. All those who have the capacity to abuse of us. All those who lead us to buy any kind of product or not. All those who work for themselves. All those who tread on people. They are the real vandals. They are violating the real society. The real democracy that has been stolen from us. It’s sad when people are only concerned about public monuments. About a conservative and moral way of life. We have screamed and they have not heard us. Now we are being part of the streets. We are united due to their indifference toward us. We are looking for and demanding all the answers they hide from us. They hide from you. This is our revolution. This is your revolution, unless you are one of them. [anonimo]
